How to Travel Cheap by Train in Germany

Traveling in Germany by train can be expensive

, fares can go up to 113 euros, in case you are traveling from Frankfut to Berlin. A lot can be done in these 113 euros and may matter a lot when the inter currency conversion is large as it is in my case. So we will have a look at the two of cheapest ways to travel by train in Germany.

The first package is the Laender-Ticket by which you can travel in any federal state of Germany. As for example, you can travel through out Bavaria by one ticket. That's not all, this ticket is valid for 5 people, in case of parents, Lnder-Tickets can be used for any number of children below the age of 15. These tickets are usually valid for throughout the week. Though every state has different packages, as for example in Bavaria, which gets the largest number of tourists in Germany, if you buy the ticket through Deutsche Bahn Webiste you have to pay 28 euros or 30 euros if you get the ticket through ticket machine, known as Riesezentrum in German. In addition, for Bavaria you can also the get the Bavarian Single Ticket for 22 euros but this single ticket is not available for Brandenburg and Berlin, along with this there is also the night package available available for Brandenburg, Berlin and Bavaria but not available for Saxony.

The other package is Schoenes-Wochenende-Ticket and is one of German Railway's most valuable offers for tourists of all ages. This ticket is valid for up to 5 persons and for parents traveling with their children aged 14 or younger. When Schnes Wochenende is translated into English means "Nice Weekend", so it means you can avail this package either on Saturdays or Sundays (one day only) between midnight and 3 a.m. of the following day. Tickets are just 37 when you buy them online or 2 euros expensive when you buy them at the spot.

Though some restrictions apply to these packages, that are, you can only travel in local trains namely Interregio-Express, Regional-Express, regionalbahn, S-Bahn and the entire transport system of the Verkehrsverbnde i.e. the Transport Associations. In other words you can not travel in the ICs and ICEs, by which I mean the fast trains and it also applies for the Schnes-Wochenende-Ticket. Schnes-Wochenende-Ticket has one advantage over Lnder-Tickets is that you don't have to pay when you are crossing the state, though it's a very nominal amount something around 3 euros. If you are buying it from the ticket machine (Riesezentrum). You can set the language to English, then click the special offers section, from here you can get both the tickets. How to Travel Cheap by Train in Germany

At last all I can say is "Have a safe journey" and "Enjoy Germany".
