This means you can wear your burgundy, red and purple striped shirt with light blue, navy and yellow striped tie - because the shirt's stripes blend into a reddish color and can be combined with the bluish tie. White striped shirts are also safe to combine with striped tie but keep in mind that the stripes on the white shirts need to be thin as well.
