It might seem cruel, but having a spray bottle containing water would be within your best interest. Each time the dog attempts to jump on you either on the couch, in your recliner, or at the dinner table, deliver a volley of water and tell the dog "NO".

Oftentimes there is nothing more annoying than attempting to eat your meal and having your furry friend begging at your feet, or if it is a small dog, jumping into your lap. You may be one who is opposed to crating your dog, but it can actually do some good. There are plenty of crates available in all different shapes and sizes at your pet store. Make sure you choose one that fits your dog well. If you have a smaller dog, you can feel free to purchase a larger crate to provide more room, though you should not buy a smaller crate for a larger dog -- even if they will fit.
