How To Survive An Unpleasant Job

Appreciate- The most immediate way to fix your job woes is to take a moment to think about the merits of your current job

. Pull out a sheet of paper and write down the opportunities and learning skills your job is giving you, along with any other positives. While this list may not fix all of your job problems, it will help you keep in mind the reasons why your job can help you better yourself and perhaps lead to a happier placement. Handily, this list puts you in a good state of mind to continue on to the next step...

Take action- Do some job-searching, take classes to gain some new knowledge on a helpful subject and generally prepare yourself for the job hunt if you choose to leave your current position. Don't wait until you are out of a job to get this crucial step out of the way. Since you have a job now, you have more financial flexibility to decide how to further your career.

Take your Mark, Goal Set!- The best way to make work enjoyable is to set some basic goals for yourself to accomplish in and out of the office. Be sure to write out your goals, it increases motivation and dedication to achieving the goals. Write out why you want to accomplish this goal as well, whether it impacts your resume, accomplishments or job search. Start brainstorming and remember the sky's the limit!

Keep up the Good Work- The best fix for changing your situation is to work better than you ever have before. If you think your job situation will be temporary, it is important that the work portfolio you have to show your next employer is a good showcase of your talent. If you want to stay with your current company, the better work you do, the more of a chance you have to get a more rewarding position. If you can continue quality work you'll be in a position where you have more opportunities and better job prospects.

Relationships Matter- While your job situation may not be all you've ever wanted, there's no reason that should translate into a negative attitude towards your work partners. There's a good chance their recommendations (or lack thereof) could be the make or break reference for you next job. So, be sure to be positive and helpful. It may pay off in the long run!
