How To Stop Your Dog From Biting

Start Training Early.
As with every part of pup obedience training, the earlier you beginning the more straightforward it is. As soon as you get your pup you should make certain he knows you are the boss and in charge at all times. When feasible, familiarize your puppy to as lots of people as you can - inside your home, in the garden and whenever you are out for walks. When you come in; talk to them and lay a hand on them - show affection to them before you acknowledge the pup.
Always make certain the puppy sees you giving them food before you feed the dog - just a biscuit will do not a full meal! And if you go for a walk with your dog and children, make certain you and the children go through the door before the dog. All these procedures are replicated in the wild, where higher status dogs are always first to be greeted, to eat and to hunt - after the leader - so your dog will soon appreciate and accept his place in your pack.
One thing to note about biting is that if it does abruptly begin and you don't suspect it is dominance aggression, then your pup might be in pain. Dogs often bite if they are hurt - they can't tell you where it hurts! Also, some medical conditions may cause aggressive behavior - such as under active thyroid glands - so if you suspect this could be the case, see your vet straight away.
