How To Help Your Marriage When Your In-laws Are The Problem

Are you searching for marriage help because of your in-laws

? If so, you are not alone.

In Western culture, (where couples are encouraged to live with one another in privacy), nosy in-laws might truly put a strain on the relationship. As a matter of fact, that's most likely one of the reasons why in-law jokes are so common in the media; it is something that a lot of married couples find similar.

However, once it comes to real life, in-law difficulties are no laughing matter. They may even cause a married couple to make a trip to divorce court if steps are not taken to help your relationship.

However, that is where things become a little tricky. How can you resolve an in-law situation without alienating two groups you love dearly... Your partner and your parent(s)?

Well, first you must get to the crux of why there are issues in the first place. For instance, some people have in-law issues for the reason that the spouse's parents don't want to let them go.

This can cause them to get even more judgmental. Nothing will change their attitude, which is why in these situations a separate relationship may well be best. In the meantime, try to encourage them to go to family therapy. Hopefully, this will get them to open their hearts towards accepting your spouse as family and help your marriage stay strong.

On the other side of the fence are the situations where a mate is really jealous of their in-laws. They don't like you having outside interests, so they take their anger out on your parents.

If things get really bad, they may even give you an ultimatum. Do not cower down to them. Even if they don't get along with your parents, you do have a right to have a relationship with them. If they can't get this through their heads, you will have to recieve marriage counseling to find out why they are so insecure.

In conclusion, do not ignore in-law difficulties. If your partner is complaining about your mom and dad, (or visa-versa), make sure you take the problem seriously. Help your marriage stay strong and happy by nipping in-law issues in the bud before they start.
