When you want to use the services of an online company it is always worth doing a little homework
. Window fitters are no different to any other trade; there are the good ones and the not-so-good ones. It doesnt matter how big a job it is that you need doing, it still needs to be done properly. If you just pick out the first glazier that you come across without finding out anything about them, then you could end up regretting it for many years to come! Badly fitted glass (or entire windows) can cause all manner of different problems.
Here are a few things to watch out for. These should help you to separate the experts from the cowboys:
- Reputation.
Have you ever heard of this company before? Perhaps you have seen their vans when you have been driving around? But they dont have to be a huge nationwide company to be well known; certain company names are synonymous with quality. Is that the sort of company you are considering?
- Experience.
How long have this company been fitting glass? The more experience they have in what they do, the better they will be at doing their job. If you are dealing with a firm that have only fitted half a dozen windows in the last two months then you need to think again! If a company have been fitting glass for a good many years then they will know exactly what they are doing. This is one of the most important factors to consider.
- Price.
If you get a quote from several different firms then some will be quite a lot cheaper than others. But is it worth the risk? You may get your windows fitted for less simply because they are done in a shoddy fashion. Dont be taken in by low prices. If you shop around then you should be able to find a mid-price quote with good quality glazier.
- Services.
Another good way to gauge the professionalism of a company is to find out exactly what services they have to offer; just how impressive does it all sound? Fly-by-night companies will normally not have the most professional of images and it is fairly easy to discard them from your list of possible contacts.
- Curriculum Vitae.
One of the best ways to tell how good a service a company offers is to have a look at their track record. Most reputable glazing companies will have a testimonials section on their website. This is one of the most important pages of all and it is strongly recommended that you read through the comments of other customers. Were they happy with the work that they had done? And is there any negative feedback to consider? Dont be put off if someone finds fault with something minor as it is difficult to please everyone, but keep an eye out for mis-measures, bad workmanship or poor service.
