How To Discipline Your Child Without Spanking

Disciplining children can be a difficult issue for parents and for those without children

. In fact there are various points of view, especially concerning spanking. Conversely, for parents who are not in favor of spanking, there are successful ways to discipline a child. These include time out, natural consequences and redirection. However, before implementing any type of discipline, it is important to set a goal as to what type of relationship you want with your children and what kind of individuals you want them to be.

Time Out

Time-outs are used to separate a child from a situation. It is a cool way to deal with misbehaving children, which does not strengthen their behavior. Designate a time-out chair or corner where you can send your child every time he misbehaves. After the child is left without an audience for this length of time, the parent has to go in and talk to him. Ask the child if he knows what he did was wrong or tell him why it was wrong. Giving a hug after talking your child is important in this area. This will let him know that it is not you punishing him but simply letting him learn the consequences of his actions.

Natural Consequences How To Discipline Your Child Without Spanking

Natural consequence is another form of discipline. This lets the child understands that mom and dad are not always the bad guys. This simply lets the consequences of your child's actions teach what kinds of behaviors are appropriate and acceptable. When your child breaks a toy, your child will no longer get that toy. This will make your child understand and learn in taking care of things.

There is another form of natural consequence that may not be as natural but is quite effective. Discuss the rules with your family. You propose some and let them propose some, and then discuss its consequences if these rules are not followed. Children often think of harsher punishments than parents. When your child breaks a rule, refer to the listing of consequences. This way, you are not the bad guy and they will learn that they are held accountable for their own actions.

Redirection

Oftentimes, a young child forgets easily and his emotions always come before his thoughts. At this stage, a child may commonly strike and strike and throw tantrums. You have to know the trick of stopping the tantrum by observing your child and redirect him before he starts. When you see your son coming to take away your daughter's toy, simply take the toy and give it back, instead of scolding or spanking him. Then redirect your son if he wants to come and play with you with another toy. The secret here is to present something else to the child to get his mind off from whatever fight or misbehavior he is about to cause.

When these combinations of discipline techniques are used, a better and nurturing relationship with your children is established, and this is what every parent wants.
