How To Deal With Bulldog Barking

You cannot completely stop a dog from barking but it is advisable for pet owners to deal with excessive bulldog barking

. The barking can become too much for family members, friends and the neighbors. If it interferes with the peace of those around, the owner should deal with it. There are different strategies that should be used that are effective.

If the dog is barking too much a person should try and find out the main reason why the pet is barking. A bulldog may start barking for a variety of reasons and some can easily be solved by the owner. Some of the reasons can be to protect its territory or it could be harm or illness related. Whichever the case, a person should investigate before choosing a way to deal with it.

Bulldogs love attention. The dog may start barking just to get attention. An owner should be aware of this and not reinforce the behavior. The worst thing that the owner can do is to give into its demands. Once this happens the dog will use this to its advantage and will start barking each time it needs some attention.

Commands can be used to stop the dog from barking. Each time the dog will hear the command it will stop barking immediately. This is effective in dealing with the issue as it will prevent the dog from barking unnecessarily.

Using a treat works. The treat should be used to teach the dog that barking is not appreciated. The treat should be given to the dog only after it stops barking and some encouraging words like "good dog" should be said to the dog. When the dog is barking the treat should be put right near its nose. It will stop barking so as to get it; this is the time that the treat should be used.

The dog can also be trained to bark on command. This means that apart from training the dog to stop barking, teaching it to bark is also effective. It can be done by the use of a stimulus that can be used to make it bark and when it is removed it will stop.

Repetition and consistency are very important. Bulldog barking can be controlled. In case of extreme cases it is advisable to take the dog to a vet.
