Admittedly, most people can't wait till the summer heat is here

True enough, we are prone to have some skin damaging culprits during this season either through the sun damaging effects, insect bites and the likes. It is important that we arm ourselves with the right protection for our skin and body in order to maximize the fun.

The heat of the sun can cause our skin to dry and itch. Hence, it is important to moisture up the skin preferably with a hypoallergenic one at least three to four times a day. One can also opt for applying ointments and oils which should be followed by topical applications of creams and lotions.

Choose a good scrub that you can use to remove dead skin cells. Make sure that it won't damage the pores as well. We tend to sweat more during summer hence we should also coat some sweaty skin part with talcum powder to help absorb those excess perspirations so we can avoid those troublesome summer acne.

Be wary of poison ivy. This plant is characterized by its three-leaf shining appearance. If ever you would stumble upon one, it is advisable to keep hydrocortisone cream or antihistamine medications at bay. The itchiness may become aggravated by the heat and sweat so it is important to stay cool and ventilated. Taking a tepid bath along with one cup of oatmeal can help ease off the itching as well.

In terms of diet, it is important that one includes dark-green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale on their menus. These contain lutein, an antioxidant that can help protect the skin from the damaging rays of the sun.

For refreshments, have some green iced tea instead of your usual sodas. This type of tea contains polyphenols that is essential for fighting off pre-maturing condition of the skin and help in reducing the inflammation of the skin commonly caused by UV rays as well.
