How To Answer Questions About Your On Line Business

Online marketers who work from home will often spend their time on their own

. Using a Time Management Technique will focus most work, say 80%, on Income Producing Activities or IPA's. The remainder of the time can be used gaining valuable skills or improving current skill capabilities. The question most posed, is what skills are most important for online marketers

I am of the school that thinks that marketing is EVERYTHING that you do to promote your online business, your products and yourself. So this gives you a broad range of subjects that you can learn or review in your 20% "downtime". Industry guru Mike Dillard of "Magnetic Sponsoring" fame believes that personal development is the key to success in your business, and I agree.

At the outset, my career in online marketing was plagued by a major problem. I had not realised that the most challenging questions I was fielding were in effect calls for more information. Due to my lack of knowledge I was unable to answer the questions analytically, and respond appropriately.

The way I discovered to be a useful, and powerful way to respond to requests for information is detailed here:

1. Think of all the questions you have received, and add to that list all the questions that you can think of that might be asked of you. Think as laterally as you can.

2. Sort into topics. Some of the questions may be stupid, but list them anyway. Whoever asked the question did not see the question as stupid. Some will seem more important than others, some will be asked more than once.

3. Any each question from as may perspectives as you can. Sometimes, a question is asked to discover what has not been mentioned, or to fulfil a need of the questioner. Some may be more of a statement than a question. Ensure that your response includes a request for more information, or asks a question of the respondent.

4. Review each answer for errors and check if your response could be considered antagonistic. Sometimes a question INVITES a caustic response, but do not be goaded. Remember, every question, no matter how stupid, or adverserial, is a someone asking for more information.

5. A few days after you have answered, contact the respondent again and ask if you were ably to be of help - ask if there is something else you can do for them. The feedback will be invaluable.

Initially, your answers will not be the best possible. However you will get better with practice. Eventually you will become a Q&A expert, and your knowledge and the success of your business will grow.
