Holiday in Seoul? Where? What?

Holiday in Seoul? Where? What?

I've spent my annual holidays in South Korea

, like every year!..." Do you listen to such kind of sentences when you talk about traveling and holidays with your friends or relatives? NO? Of course not. South Korea is still an anusual traveling destination for most people on the world.

Even if someone likes to travel to Asia, he chooses most times the ordinary destinations like Thailand, China or Hongkong. No one thinks about traveling to South Korea or especially the capital city Seoul.

Why not?

Going there can't be an obstacle or an excuse. The way is almost the same distance like to all other Asian destinations. It doens't matter where you go in Asia and where you start from, the way is almost the same, it might be only a difference of one to two hours of flight.

And actually it's quite comfortable to go there. As soon as you arrive you'll find yourself at the big modern Incheon airport. Incheon is a big city in the west of Seoul. But it's not far away from Seoul, by bus it's only a half-an-hour-distance-trip. From the first very moment the journey will be interesting, because the Incheon airport is one of the most modern and beautiful airports in the world. Only to see Incheoon airport is worth traveling to South Korea.

Maybe people are afraid of South Korea and the megacity Seoul? Maybe they think of a too high crime rate, or poor people might come and rob the tourists?! No, of course not. South Korea is one of the safest places in the world. Even in the 10-million-people-city Seoul there is almost no crime. If you forget your wallet in the subway, it'll be at the same place even one hour later. Koreans are rich and don't have a need to do a crime. In the last twenty years Korea became one of the most advanced countries in the world. The technology standard is high and people have work and income. There is also the fact that their culture keeps an eye on each of them, so if someone becomes criminal, he can't be a member of the society there anymore. Due to the fact that being in a group or in the society itself is one of the most important things for Koreans, they don't dare to take even one step beside the given line of straight social behavior. They are too afraid of being excluded from the others. So they don't do any crime. You'll feel this safe feeling when you travel to Seoul.

Are you afraid of getting lost in Seoul? Hey, no worries, every public signboard is bilingual, in Korean and English. Most private signboards are writen in the same way. If you concentrate only on the english part on each signboard, ignoring the Korean charcters, you'll navigate through Seoul or any other city in South Korea like through London or New York!

Maybe people are afraid that they might be starving and can't find any good food there? Oh no, that reason really can't be a reason! Traveling to South Korea means traveling to the France of Asia", which means that Korea has the same high cooking standard like France in Europe. The food in South Korea is excellent, it is healthy and has one of the widest varieties in the world. If you come to South Korea, please don't eat the easy way, don't enter American fast food chains, don't eat burgers! You should try to buy some Korean dishes as many times as possible! You will be amazed!

If you are still afraid of an unknown restaurant system, you'll find an instruction of how to deal with a Korean restaurant right here:

Or...maybe there is nothing interesting in South Korea? Maybe Seoul is a boring city? No no no, please don't think so! Seoul is one of the most interesting places in the world! If you walk through the streets of Seoul or other South Korean cities you'll know what I mean. You'll find thousands of things which are quite uncommon in the eyes of a typical European or American person! Have a look and travel to Seoul!

A first impression of unusual things in Seoul can be seen here:

Are high costs an argument to prevent people from making a journey to Seoul? Hm, well, no. South Korea is cheap, compared with European or American prices. Traveling by subway costs between 0.50 and 1.00 US-Dollar, having lunch or dinner at a Korean restaurant takes only around 5.00 US-Dollar out of you wallet, but those 5 bucks make you really full, including free bottomless mineral water and free bottomless sidedishes!

There can be only one conclusion: Traveler, if you come to Asia, go to Seoul. Have fun in South Korea!
