The aim of the new treaty is to enlarge and enhance cooperation internally between the 3 Benelux member states, and internationally, with their European partners. Overall, the treaty has been simplified and restructured, concentrating on 3 main areas: internal market and economic growth; durability, and justice and internal affairs.
