Currently, it is being considered as an alternative to The Maze for the new Northern Island Stadium. This would be sited where the Ozone leisure facility is now, thus protecting the parks heritage and beauty.

Other recent developments in Belfast have been the Victoria Square retail complex, the Obel Tower (which, when finished, will be the tallest skyscraper in Ireland), and the regenerated Titanic Quarter. Located on the site where the ill-fated RMS Titanic was built, plans include a blue-chip technology district, entertainments complex and a Titanic family theme park.
