Avila is the capital city of the province with the same name; it is famous for being the Spanish provincial capital situated at the highest altitude. Avila is still protected by medieval walls that will impress you with their 9 gateways and 88 towers. The walls are hundreds of years old as they were built right after the Christians re-conquered the province from the Moors. Burgos is worth visiting for the outstanding Gothic Cathedral. The construction started in 1221 and it took 300 years and the greatest names of the time in architecture to finish it. Leon is the type of cosmopolitan city that charms you with its relaxed atmosphere, a city where the old and the new perfectly combine in a balance that attracts tourists. Its Gothic Cathedral dating back to the 13th century is one of the major attractions of Leon.
