Have You Suffered A Personal Injury On Private Property?

Have You Suffered A Personal Injury On Private Property?

The other day I was reading in the newspaper a story about a young man who was doing yard work for his neighbor

. The neighbor requested the young man use a ladder to get on top of the home with to do some painting. It turns out that the ladder had a problem and collapsed as the man neared the top. He fell and suffered numerous broken bones and a dislocated shoulder.

The article further stated and quotes from his family members that they intended to hire a personal injury law firm and file a lawsuit against the homeowner due to the faulty ladder. This is a perfect example of someone suffering an injury and then needing to find a personal injury law firm to handle there case. This is not simply a matter for small claims court. When one suffers an injury such as this where substantial liability may be incurred, a qualified lawyer with experience in personal injury cases should be sought.

When looking for a personal injuries lawyer in your city, the first step would simply be browsing the Yellow Pages in your phonebook. These types of lawyers are numerous in larger cities and countless ads can be browsed for these various attorneys. Many of the ads will be of lawyers who also advertise on the local television and radio stations. It's always best to first contact these more well-known lawyers as they usually have more respect in the community and usually have more business and thus more experience.

The good news about hiring a lawyer to handle a personal injury is that no money is required. If the lawyer assumes your case, he will simply require you to pay a certain percentage of what is recovered. In most cases, this percentage is between 30 and 60%. Therefore, there are no out-of-pocket expenses for the injured person. However, the personal injury attorney is not obligated to take your case and will only take you on as a client if he or she firmly believes they can win the case. After all, he is assuming that all of his work and time involved in the case will be compensated by winning the case. If your case is weak you may have trouble finding an injuries lawyer to represent you.

It is best to contact the attorney as quickly as possible after the accident occurs. Be sure to take meticulous notes and photographs of the area of the accident and provide these to the attorney in the personal injuries law firm who represents you. Also you could make his job easier by supplying the names and phone numbers of any witnesses or other people involved that may be of help in your case.
