Gundagai has a very interesting history, the earliest history that the white people know of dates back to 1829, when the European settlers took over the town, though of course the aboriginal history goes even further back.

How to get there?

If you plan to go to Gundagai by car, you can take the Hume Highway. This is the major route between Melbourne and Sydney. Gundagai is approximately 390 kilometres south-west of Sydney (approximately 4.5 hours).

Those who would like to visit the beautiful town of Gundagai by train, there is a bus service which connects with the train services to Cootamundra; however this bus service only operates twice a day so it would be best to get the schedule!

If you would like to visit Gundagai by bus service, there are buses that travel from Sydney to Melbourne or Melbourne to Canberra and these will drop you in Gundagai.

Gundagai's attractions

This small town boasts many different attractions that are worth visiting. One of these attractions would be the statue of the "Dog on the Tucker Box". This town will be forever associated with the folklore behind this popular statue.
