Guilin locates on the south-western of Nanling Mountains. The name "Guilin" means "forest of Sweet Osmanthus", because there are the large numbers of fragrant Sweet Osmanthus trees grow in the city.
Karst land is the main feature of Guilin. It has formed a lot of unique landscapes. Among them the most representative Guilin attractions are: Fubo Hill , Elephant Trunk Hill , South Creek Hill, Yao mountain, Solitary Beauty Peak, Seven Star Cave, Reed Flute Cave etc. The most beautiful section of Li River lies in Yangshuo County.
