Global Gas Hiring Disarmed Rebels

Global Gas and Refining Limited, a Nigerian-based liquefied petroleum gas producer

said that a transaction between their party and a disarmed militant leader is on the way. The purpose is to hire and train ex-rebels as local and international leaders seek to merge the gains of a recent amnesty process.

Kenneth Yellowe, the Chairman and CEO of Global gas and Refining Limited said that they are in a tie with Prince H. Amaibi, the deputy of the militant Farah Dagogo. Dagogo is one of the two field commanders for the Movement of the Emancipation of the Niger Delta before both men agreed to disarm last month. MEND has since declared an indefinite ceasefire. Prince H. Amaibi has affirmed the planned relationship between him and Yellowe saying that they are interested in hiring disarmed militants for the pipeline surveillance project and construction works. He said that he is aiming for a partnership between Yellowes team and they will be using the disarmed militants to stop the agitation of the youth in the Nider Delta.

Furthermore, Kenneth Yellowe stated that he wants to hire Prince H. Amaibis groups disarmed members for a low-cost housing scheme to work with the replacement of houseboats. This will be a good thing since they will be having formal trainings for in bricklaying and other skills from an international engineering contractor.

Global Gas and Refining Limited is one of the largest and independent producers of cooking gas. The company owns a 120-million-cubic-centimeter-foot-a-day gas processing plants. One of them is located in the Cawthorne Channel area in Eastern Delta. The company is also an affiliate of the Global Energy which is based in Houston, Texas USA.

According to Kenneth Yellowe, the planned partnership with ex-militants will be conducted through Awoma, a foundation that it is currently supporting. Awoma employs approximately two hundred fifty members of the youth who are all ex-militants and they are using their services for surveillance in Cawthorne Channel area. In connection with that undertaking, Global Energy USA, Global Gas sister company, is looking for retired executives to conduct business courses in the Delta. This would help women and ex-militants to start a new life as a civilian. This will equip them with knowledge on making business plans and in getting business loans. However, Yellowe said that this project is not a form of buying peace, but an endeavor to create a smooth-sailing bond between both parties.
