Give Your Kids A Better Life

Now that we are in an unpredictable economic environment

, strong career skills are more important than ever. For young people, this means that continuing training--college or trade school--is vital after high school graduation.

But for those that have already had their fair share of life experience, it can be tough to try to negotiate a new schedule and juggle other obligations while going back to school. For no one is this truer than for single parents.

That is not to suggest it cannot be done. If you find yourself in this position--needing additional education but worrying about parenthood and finances on top of this necessity--allow me to share a few tips.

Depending on your profession (or desired profession), you need to first investigate grants, fellowships, or scholarships. There are some differences among all of these financial supplements which we don't have time to go over, but you need to understand that this extra money can not only cover your tuition--it can also provide you with funds to live on.Give Your Kids A Better Life

This helps to relieve some of the pressure for a single parent. Too many single parents resort to attending night school and working all day. But this can sometimes give you an avenue to work only part time.

There are many websites that find scholarships based on your qualifications (which does not only include academic-related achievements). You might also want to talk to a college counselor to help you find the right financial aid for you. You may be surprised at how much money is appropriated to help single parents.

Of course, your biggest priority in this whole picture is your child. You want to continue to give them the personalized care that they deserve. The next few years may be a turbulent, busy time, but you will be setting the right example for him or her (or them).

Taking classes online is a great way to do things on your own time. There are even some degree programs that are accredited so that you can do the entire thing online. This will free up more of your time to spend with your kids. But this is not always possible.

Matching your little one to the right nanny can be crucial during this time. Daycare may be a cheaper option, but an effective nanny that will stay with you for the long haul can be like your right arm.

Don't expect this to be an easy time. Going through school is never easy, but remember that it is also difficult trying to scrape by, going from paycheck to paycheck. A good education will give you and your kids a better life.
