If you're struggling to find the right gift for the right person this Christmas, you're not alone. Although the shops are full of special offers and brightly packaged goodies, Christmas just seems to bring out displays of gadgets and pretty things that we never knew we wanted and in all fairness, we probably don't.
The shops have been pushing Christmas since about October, and every television advert seems to be for Christmas food or presents, but if you're one of those people who likes to take their time over selecting the perfect present for someone you care about, rather than picking up any old three for one from a supermarket, you might still be struggling for inspiration for a gift that doesn't come with an inflated price tag and a limited sell by date.
If you really want to put a great big smile on the face of a loved one this festive season, the best way of doing it is to really put some thought into what you give them, and somehow treat them to something they've always fancied but never quite been able to justify buying for themselves.
The popularity of experiences' as Christmas and birthday gifts reflects the fact that a lot of people don't necessarily want material things, and that it's often that much nicer to receive something that they will be able to enjoy and remember for years to come. There are now so many different experiences' to choose from, there's bound to be something that will make anyone squeal with delight and exclaim, "I've always wanted to do that!"
Some people might like an adventurous day to remember, with the chance to drive a racing car, have a go at bungee jumping or take part in a paintballing day.
Others might be more interested in a sedate, pampering day where they can take time out for themselves and enjoy a bit of me-time. For these people the latest spa packages might be the way to go, or perhaps a beauty treatment, makeover day or floatation tank voucher.
All these ideas are easy to organise with plenty of opportunities to buy experience days' and vouchers from shops on the high street as well as online.
You could try to seek out the most unusual experience possible for someone who likes a bit of a challenge or an adventure a stay in a tree house, a day learning how to make pizza or a haunted supper somewhere spooky. Or opt for a little piece of luxury for your chosen recipient, with a voucher for a night in a boutique hotel or a fabulous spa.
Christmas gift buying doesn't have to mean tacky and with a little thought you can treat someone to something they will really thank you for.
