If you're shopping for a car right now and you want cheap insurance, you won't get it with a new car. Sorry, but new cars, in most states, require full coverage. You can still get cheaper insurance by having a clean record, by being a safe driver, by being employed and so on and so forth, but you won't get the cheapest insurance available, so if you're deciding between the new car or last year's model, get last year's model.
Keep Clean
Keep out of trouble of all sorts. Try not to get fired, stay gainfully employed. Stay out of legal trouble, and most importantly, drive safe and follow all the rules of the road. If the insurers look at your record and see accidents that were your fault and a drunk driving charge, then you're going to be the very definition of a high risk client. First of all, get good grades. In many states, a high GPA can lead to a better deal on car insurance. Second, have a job. You're probably going to be paying your own insurance, and a responsible teen is a lower risk than the next teen down the line.
