George Strait Tickets - Veteran Continues To Impress On Tour
George Strait has nothing left to prove in the country music world-or in the mainstream music world for that matter
. In his long career, he is ranked third in total RIAA platinum certifications, beat out only by the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Because of his accomplishments, he could easily retire and hang up his famous cowboy hat for good. Instead, Strait has continued to do what fans enjoy so much: make music and book tour dates.In early September, Strait embarked on a slew of tour dates with Reba McEntire and LeAnn Womack, and stellar reviews began pouring in for the show. In October, Strait and his crew have more dates booked in sports like Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Minneapolis and more. Many of those dates are outside of country's stronghold in the South, and yet Strait's loyal fans in those cities jump at the chance to get George Strait tickets, showing his universal appeal.
Strait will also take a familiar role at the 44th Annual CMA Awards on Nov. 10: that of nominee. Strait has been nominated for and won many of country's top awards in his decades in the music scene. For the 2010 CMA Awards, Strait has two nominations. First, he is nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year along with Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban. He is also nominated for Album of the Year for his most recent release, Twang. In that category, he is up against Need You Now by Lady Antebellum, Play On by Carrie Underwood, Revolution by Miranda Lambert and Up On the Ridge by Dierks Bentley. For this year's CMA Awards, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will be back to host.
Strait is known as a loyal person, evidenced by the fact that he has been married to the same woman, Norma, since well before he was famous. His loyalty is further substantiated by his relationship with Tom Foote. While most people probably don't know Foote, he may know George Strait better than nearly anyone else besides Norma. Foote met Strait while he was in college at Southwest Texas University when they began playing in a band together. When Strait hit it big, Foote became his road manager and has had the role for 36 years.
Foote recently spoke to LexGo, and he recalled his early days with Strait. He said, "I was 23 and I think George was 24, maybe. We were playing local beer joints and dance halls and really did that for the better part of six years until he got his record deal with MCA. In fact, until George had his record deal, we had never played outside of Texas. It was a really great time. Some of my favorite memories were when we first started." Foote also had some nice things to say about Strait's touring partner, Reba McEntire. He recalls touring with Reba years ago along with sharing new tour dates with her. Foote's comments reveal that Strait's tours are well worth seeing whenever he is in town.
