As the saying goes "we all have to start somewhere" so starter bras are very important
to stock and here at Frillys we have customers as young as 9 yrs. We stock a greatrange of starter bras with brands including Royce, Silhouette, Lepel and Boobs & Bloomers. We find the most popular styles are slightly padded, definately no underwires, although the range we stock look like they are wired but are not.So padded, modern looking and exciting colours, plus the traditional plain white for school are most important to us. Depending of your size it is quite normal to continue wearing non-underwired bras right up to the age of 16 or 17 years old as this is when the breast stops growing through puberty. Obviously size plays a large part in when you eventually change to wired bras and at Frillys we treat every young person as an individual.Next we move to teenagers, although there isn't a specific range for teenagers generally speaking they like modern styles,usually paddedand most like them to be lower at the front and to havethin straps. We find Lepel bras fit our niche perfectly and for mums who normally end up paying for them, they're not too expensive. Don't be mistaken though, lepel bras are really pretty,they are worn by a wide range of ages and we at Frillys sell to a much wider age range than just teenagers.
I guess like most lingerie fitting shops our core market is probably 30-55 yrs. As women are all different shapes and sizes, withlikes and dislikes it makes this category probably the largest where absolutely anything goes and as such it is vital that you get to know your market and stock what your customer wants. It is no good stocking really exclusive and expensive lingerie if your not in a very affluent area and likewise stocking lower priced lingerie if you are in a very wealthy area. We stock a vast choice of top branded lingerie including Fantasie, Freya, Triumph, Lepel, Charnos, Bestform and many more. We feel with such a vast choice we are able to meet all our customers needs whether it is for day wear, evering wear, bridal and even sport.
I would probably say that one category which as continued to grow in popularity yearupon year is swimwear. As people now holiday all year round it is important to stock a good choice. As a fitting shop Frillys do just that and weoffer our customers swimwear 12 months a year. We have tried and tested many ranges some good some not so good and without a doubt Fantasie and Freya swimwear works best for us. This swimwear is bra sized and gives fantastic support and shaping. Most styles are stocked from DD-H cup, 32-38 back.
At Frillys we alsothink it is important to stock a good choice of more traditional bras, probably what we would class as our core stock instead of fashion and this category is mainly for the older ladies with ranges like the famous Triumph Doreen, Doreen & Cotton etc. Not all but most of our older customers tend to wear non- underwired bras and we find Triumph works well for us along with Royce, Anita and Playtex.
Another area which is growing year on year is our Mastectomy bras. We stock both pocketed and non pocketed styles. Our pocketed bras include brands like Royce and Nicola Jane, but there are a large number of non pocketed bras which are highly recommended styles suitable for our mastectomy customers, these include brands such as Anita and Triumph. To compliment our mastectomy bras we also stock a large selection of mastectomy swimwear by Nicola Jane with an array of gorgeous colours and styles.
One of the last categories we cater for is probably our smallest category which sadly seems to decrease year on yearand this category is corsettry. Gone are the days of the good old Spirella, with bones and hooks and lace-up backs. For all that we do still have a number of customers who require corsetry garments and for this we tend to stock Triumph, Silhouette and Playtex.
Lastly, but by no means least we come to shapewear. I suppose you could say this has taken over corsetry to some degree. It is without a doubt more acceptable if not a mustto have a selection of good shapewear amongst your lingerie collection. This rangeis constantly evolvingand here at Frillys we believe it is extremely important to stock maybe not a huge selection but most certainly a good selection of shapewear. For this category we tend to stock the Miracle Suit range. There is a good choicewith all sorts of styles which claim to make you lose 10lbs in 10 seconds!!!
