San Francisco camp programs, however, are a lot more varied than traditional summertime fare, and allow kids to explore specialized hobbies and subjects that truly interest them. Everyday Magic
The child development center Everyday Magic has a buffet of exciting activities lined up for kids this summer! There's something that will tickle every child's curiosity no matter where his or her interests lie. Campers get to stretch their imagination as they bring stories to life, construct their own fabrics, write with nature, and create visual masterpieces using oil pastels, acrylic, and charcoal. Kids who prefer science to the arts can get their hands dirty as they hunt for bugs, build tiny models, and uncover nature's secrets. The littlest member of the family can join in the fun too! The Junior Camp session lets incoming kindergarteners dabble with arts, crafts, cooking, and singing a perfect way to acclimate your child to formal education.
Camp CMC
Encourage the inner rock star or pop diva within your child at the Community Music Center's Camp CMC, a week long summer program that exposes kids to fellow musicians and allows them to create music together. Throughout the week, kids will get to fine-tune their musician skills with activities like rhythmic movement, singing, and playing percussion instruments. Campers will also engage in other activities like music theory, chamber music, and ensemble. At the end of the program, your child will show you what he or she learned at an informal recital for family and friends.
Camp CMC is open to kids ages 9 to 19 who have been studying an instrument for at least two years. Sign up your child as soon as you can because slots are very limited.
Camp Zeum
If your child refuses to come home every time you visit Zeum, San Francisco's Children's Museum, consider enrolling him or her at Camp Zeum. This highly-interactive art and tech camp is open to kids ages 6 to 13 and gives them the chance to create digital masterpieces within the cozy environment of the museum. Campers get to produce upbeat tunes, exciting animations, and stunning movies with the help of Zeum scientists and guest artists. Every year, parents look forward to the annual Camp Zeum Film Festival , a wonderful showcase of creative works done by the campers throughout the summer.
