In 2010, the average cost of a wedding is $20,129! Many couples are now turning to destination weddings to save their bank account and their sanity. Although it is a cost-effective way to get married, there are even more ways to bring the budget down.
Here are some tips to keep prices low for your guests, and for the happy couple!
For your guests
Travel out of season: prices sky rocket in February and March as students are off on Spring Break. Dont break the bank...consider travelling in November when it just starts getting cold, right before or after Christmas or in early spring. Itll save you bundles!
Travel on odd days: Usually a Saturday to Saturday departure will cost more than a Monday, Wednesday or Friday departure. If its offered, why not leave during the week?
Special Promotion: Throughout the year, the tour operators sometimes offer special promotions like No Fuel Surcharge or Save up to 40%. This is when it pays to have a travel agent who is on top of these special group promotions.
Price Reductions: Most tour operators allow a One Time Price Reduction on the cost of the trip, if the price of the trip decreases before final payment is due. So keep your eyes peeled for a drop in the price daily if your travel agent isnt doing it for you.
Room choices: Although some may be on a budget, others prefer to splurge on their holidays. Resorts that have lots of room types can have something for everyone, from a lower priced Garden-view Hotel Room to a Jacuzzi Suite.
For the Bride & Groom
Free wedding packages: Some resorts offer free wedding packages if the happy couple can bring along enough guests with them! Obviously, there are always upgrades to the free packages, but if youre on a budget its the perfect way to stay on track.
Complimentary passenger: As with any group, you will normally be offered a free trip if you get enough people to travel in your group. Many times, you may need 20 confirmed adults to get one spot free. However, these freebies sometimes come on sale so that you only need 10 or 15 people booked to get one free. Keep in mind, the free person still needs to pay some taxes and fees. The bride and groom can use the free spot for themselves, a special friend or family member or can use it as a discount spread out among the entire group!
