Orange County Launch Ramps
Sunset Aquatic Park in Huntington Harbor: This is one of the most popular boat launch ramps in Orange County, especially so amongst local anglers. It's popular for a couple of reasons: first it is an easy launch and take out area. Second, fresh water wash-down is available. Also,, parking is ample, even during the busy season. Getting to the Aquatic park is easy too; you can access the ramp by driving through the harbor, underneath the PCH bridge and through the Naval facility.
Huntington Harbor Yacht Club - At the south end of Huntington Harbor you will find a single solitary land boat ramp. It's easy to miss, as it's only a one-lane ramp. Parking is limited, but if you get here early, you'll have it all to yourself. It's not always used by fisherman, due to its distance from the Harbor entrance, but if you don't mind the ride, it can be an ideal place to launch without the crowds you will find at many other spots.
Dana Point Harbor in Dana Point -This is of the nicest boat ramps in Orange County which is not even to mention thatyou won't have to drive on dirt roads, or park in grass. There are numerous wash down spigots and the parking lot even includes security personnel. This is a great spot to launch if you plan on heading out to Catalina Island for the day as the path is in the swell shadow of the island. Arrive early during fishing season. Just head to Dana Point Harbor, the ramp can't be missed.
Newport Dunes, Newport Harbor - Also a popular boat ramp, Newport Dunes is in a very scenic area. Also, if you want to launch your boat into Newport Bay, this is your only shot. As such, it's not always the easiest place to find parking and can get very busy during the summer and on holidays. Head out to Catalina from here as well as to Huntington Flats to cast a line. The ramp is located at the rear end of the Bay. There is great calico fishing once you pass the surf because of the kelp and rock beds. Wash down facilities are provided.
All of these launch ramps will give you access to some of the best fishing spots in the Southern California.
