1. Deliveries. Most of us remember to stop the mail or have the newspaper turned off before traveling to see friends and family for the holidays. Lest we forget, accumulated mail is not the largest pointer that someone is not home. Many people send family and friends presents for Christmas. If a delivery box sits on your front doorstep for several days, then you are practically inviting someone to take the box or break into your house.

3. Planning. The holiday season is an exciting time of the year to make plans to visit family and friends. Sharing your plans is best kept until after you return. If you are going out of town for a time period, it is best to only ask a close friend or trusted neighbor to look in on your
