With Christmas every year comes the almost unavoidable barrage of social opportunities, as the festive mood takes hold and calendars soon start to fill up with drinks, office parties and pre-Christmas get-togethers. Though juggling all of December's commitments can be tricky for single people on the lookout for a partner, Christmas brings with it a whole host of opportunities. Of course there are all of the usual ways to find a date and meet that special someone, but here are a few tips on how to make the most of the festive dating season.
The first and by far the most obvious fact that a lot of singles overlook, is that December is party season. If you are looking for a date or a prospective new partner, December is the month to say yes to all opportunities as everybody's social diary is fuller than it's been all year and most people are in the festive spirit. Keep your options open and go along to whatever you get invited to, as this is the season to meet people who perhaps don't always go to many parties or social gatherings usually.
Another simple tip is to look your best. It might sound obvious, but many people buy one or two special Christmas party' outfits especially for this reason; so that when they are hopping from one party to the next they can always look good. You never know who you are going to meet, even at the office party, so don't blow your chances of a date by ignoring the small details.
Next, make the most of your family and friends. Even if you're not single, you will almost certainly meet a lot of people over the festive period, whether they're friends of friends, or colleagues or even friends of family members. Make this most of any connections by discreetly asking your friend or family member if the person you like is indeed single. Seemingly small factors like this could mean the difference between getting somebody's number or chasing the wrong guy all night.
Don't just hang around with people you know either. Sure it's good to catch up with your friends and get in the mood for Christmas but, if you're serious about finding Mr or Mrs Right, then get moving and work the floor' so to speak. Find the faces in the crowd you don't recognise and make a point of introducing yourself and, sooner or later, you are bound to find someone new to chat away to. A simple Oh, I don't think we've met' is all it takes.
And of course, don't over-do it on the festivities. It may be the season to be jolly but getting too drunk can seriously ruin your chances and no doubt attract the wrong sort of person.
