Finding A Job After College

Each year thousands of graduates come into the real world expecting a job

. Though little do they realize that because of the dropping economy, they will be competing against other graduates and the unemployed people of America. The rate of unemployment as of 2011 is 9.9% and continues to rise. Thus proving how hard the economy is on job employment.

It is estimated that there are 5 people applying for a job to one opening, by Bureau of Labor Statistics. According to CareerBuilder survey only 44% of employers plan to higher college graduates who are fresh from campus. The low statistics that keep popping up are negative signs for those looking into jobs.

Many of the high hoped graduates have a bachelor or masters degree. Because they got extra student or bank loans to pay for the extra semesters they attended, this creates more drive to get a job. Statistics show though that because it is getting harder and harder to find a job, college graduates are left with themselves drowning in debt. Also, college students who are discouraged from not being able to find a job are forced to quit or drop out because of finances.

Some say that the Occupy Wall Street movement has a lot to do with the situation students are in today. There is a lot of debt that is incurred and in the past it wasnt hard to find a job after college was completed.

Dont worry though. The bright side is that retailing and accounting companies are offering spots to college graduates. Those who major in technology or related majors can expect to find jobs and see an increase in salary after some time. This gives tech majors an advantage over graduating peers who may have majored in fashion or law.

College grads may have a harder time finding a job, but they shouldnt have to lose all hope. Still, it is very competitive and many students are moving back home with their parents or relatives to save money.

Graduates will have a hard time because of the economy but bad things can only last for so long. Keep your head held high and keep sending out those resumes.

If you have some writing skills, there are jobs you can find on classified sites under the categories called Writing. Many webmasters need to have content written for their websites and are seeking intelligent writers to compose their blog posts. Keep in mind that they pay is not great, but it is a job you can do from home or at a coffee shop while you look for other work.
