All the festivals of Nagalandare celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. All the tribes of this place celebrate their distinct seasonal festivals with pomp of color and a feast of music. These festivals are celebrated before the sowing season or on the harvest season so they can pray to God for good harvest. Hornbill Festival:

This is the most celebrated festivals of Nagaland in which all the 16 tribes of the state take part in. Each tribe showcases their best performance through their age-old preserved cultural heritage. It is celebrated in the first week of December at Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. This festival is an initiative from the Government so the traditional legacy of various tribal communities can be preserved. The Hornbill Festival is an electric celebration in which tourists can experience the finest of blend of dance, music, parade, games, sports, food fairs and religious ceremony of several tribes.

Moatsu Festival:

This is among the well-known festivals of Nagaland celebrated by the Ao tribe in the first week of May every year. It is a recreational festival full of several cultural activities celebrated after the stressful work of clearing fields, burning jungles and sowing seeds. The festive celebrations of this vibrant festival last for one week. The festivities also involve a symbolic celebration known as Sangpangtu where a big fire is lit and men and women sit around it.

Nazu Festival:

This is among the most celebrated festivals of the Pochury tribe of Nagaland. The gala event of this festival is continued for 10 days in the month February before the sowing season of the year. The leading attraction of this festival is the dance of women in traditional colored dresses and glittering accessories. This dance is more entertaining and competitive rather than ritualistic.

The tribal population of Nagaland celebrates various seasonal festivals with a lively display of color and a feast of music. Some of the other well-known Nagaland Festivals are Sekrenyi, Tuluni, Yemshe and Bushu.
