In 1775 Raja Hamir Singh reconstructed the fort, and Raja Bikram Singh added to the overall development of it in 1890. The fort is entirely made up of small bricks and lime mortar. These 20 feet ramparts and bastions are still sturdy and strong, as a result of the renovation process carried out to maintain this beautiful Rajasthani legacy.

In the inner court lies the beautiful Sheesh Mahal the prayer room of the royal family. The mirror work with concave and convex glass sheds an alluring effect together with the masterful paintings that adorn the room. The Darbar Hall is another unique feature of the fort, with its marble floors, carved wood panelling and exquisite paint and carved work on its ceilings. The motifs that are a recurrent theme in the fort and they are a proud personification of Rajasthani heritage.
