F1 racing is going to have the first Russian driver on the board this year as Vitaly Petrov will be driving for Renault. Since the team's wins have been few and far between, it has been a long year for team Ferrari, a team that is viewed as F1 wagering royalty in every sense of the word. However, over the weekend this team was in great form as its number one driver and former F1 racing champion Fernando Alonso grabbed his 2nd win of the year by winning the German Grand Prix in Hockenhiem.
But the win was much more than only a Formula One racing win; it was a lifeline for a one-time fantastic squad that is struggling tooth and nail to continue to be relevant in the F1 circuit. This team has been little more than an afterthought for almost all of 2010, and with the win in Germany, the squad has only two total for the entire year.
Alonso won the first Formula One competition of the year in Bahrain but the squad has pretty much played a remote 3rd fiddle all year to the Red Bull and McLaren teams which have dominated the racing circuit in 2010. F1 Betting Ladbrokes
Team Red Bull and McLaren have won nine of the races out of the eleven F1 contests that have gone on so far this year, and the teams enjoy big leads in both the driver standings and the Constructor Cup competitions.
Even with the 1-2 finish in Germany (Felipe Massa finished 2nd after he controversially appeared to let Alonso pass him for the win) and 208 points, team Ferrari is still nearly 100 points behind McLaren, which has 300 points, in the team standings. They have no real opportunity at taking either the top driver or squad honors.
In the driver standings the four top spots are all held down by the Red Bulls and the two McLaren drivers. Former F1 racing champion Lewis Hamilton leads all drivers with 157 points after a fourth place finish in Germany. He hass trailed in the standings by teammate and reigning F1 champion Jenson Button (143) who fought to a fifth place finish.
The Red Bulls still trail McLaren even though they have raced well throughout the season. Sebastian Vettel maintained a 3rd place podium finish, and teammate Mark Webber came in sixth. In the driver standings, both drivers are now tied for third place with 136 points. F1 Betting Ladbrokes
