Doug Small, Optician
Doug has worked in the eye care profession for over 20 years, for both public companies and private ophthamalogical and optometric practices. In addition to his expertise in eye care, Doug has a degree from an arts college in New York and has worked as an illustrator.
Doug and his wife (who is also an Optician) have one child - they enjoy cooking as a hobby and may one day make it an full time venture.
Doug says, "I have always appreciated the personal interaction with patients that I enjoy while working as an Optician. I believe that the needs of the patient must always be a priority at both the beginning and the end of the process."
Diane Elansky, ABO Certified Optician
Diane has been in the optical field since 1981, working in lab settings, retail stores and various optometric offices as an Optician and office manager. She has been certified by the American Board of Opticianry since the early 1990's and is currently studying for the Advanced Exam. Diane also trains novice Opticians in the field of Opticianry.
For the last 10 years, Diane has served on the Board of Directors of Mustang's for Kids, Inc, a non-profit organization that helps children with life-threatening diseases. Diane has also coached cross-country and track and field for the last 7 years at St. Aloysius School, and during the winter months teaches snowboarding to beginners at Bear Creek Resort.
Diane resides in Hicksville and is married and the mother of two children.
Cheryl Rotfeld, Ophthalmic Technician
Cheryl has 33 years of experience in the eye care field, working in various offices in just about every position, including 25 years in a managerial capacity. Prior to going to work in an optometist's office, Cheryl worked for 5 years in the insurance business.
Cheryl and her husband Don live in Smithtown, and they have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. When she is not at work, Cheryl enjoys gardening, reading and movies, and she loves going to her grandchildren's activites - including cheerleading, dancing and soccer.
Megan Piscott, Ophthalmic Assistant
Megan has worked in the eye care field for 14 years, performing a variety of technical duties. She has also worked in vision therapy.
Megan has a teaching degree from Penn State and is certified to teach elementary education and blind/visually impaired students. She taught for three years before taking time off to start raising a family.
When she is not at work, Megan likes to spend time with her family and friends, and enjoys running, reading and shopping. Megan, her husband Chris and their two children live in Dosboro.
