At the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, you and your family can peruse the permanent exhibits in the exhibit hall, which includes statues, educational scenes, and artifacts from the explorers and Indians. There is a theater that seats 158 people, where you can enjoy educational films that detail the trip and include entertaining facts about the era. After that, children and adults will enjoy the hands-on activities that will teach about survival.

Even if you have already visited the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, there is a good chance that you haven't seen all that there is to see. The center sponsors several special events throughout the year that can expound on the knowledge that you have already gained. You can check the calendar on the center's website for more information. In July, there is a new exhibit opening called "On the Brink of Change," which features lithographs and other artifacts from the railroad era of the northwest. You can also enjoy the Evening Lawn Chair series, which includes evenings such as "Lewis and Clark: Natural Scientists," "The Founding of Rock Boy's Reservation," "Meet George Drouillard," and "Fur, Fortune, and Empire."

There is also an exciting series called Indian Voices, where you can learn about the Native Americans from the same era. Special guest speakers and lecturers will present some amazing lessons, such as "The Hell Gate Treaty," "The Lame Bull Treaty of 1855," "The Paleoindians in Montana," "Crow Place Names," and "Northern Plains Lifestyle."

For the kids, the center sponsors Dugout Days, where your children can enjoy a whole week of activities that center on the story of Lewis and Clark. Each Dugout Days week is limited to thirty participants, so you will want to get your child registered in advance. There is also a fee of $95 per child, which will cover all of the materials necessary for the activities of the week. There will be more than one week of Dugout Days, so check the calendar to see which one works best for you.
