Evolution of a Teenage Criminal

Evolution of a Teenage Criminal

In recent years we have seen a downfall in crime rates in America

. However, something that may not be aware to many is the frightening fact that the crime rate among teenagers have risen steadily. How do we control this alarming issue? How can each American fight back these vicious teenage crimes? In order for us to do that, we need to understand how such a criminal evolves. This evolution has been well documented and can be explained in five different stages.

First Stage:

Lack of care and ignorance by a future criminal's parents during their early home life

His father must have abandoned his mother at the time of his birth.

His parents are already married and are likely to be divorced by the time he is around 2 3 years old.

He has been raised in a neighborhood with a majority of single-parent families.

He has not received the required affection from his mother during his early years of life.

To live with parents who quarrel frequently and express their frustrations or irritations, physically.

Where he had to undergo many forms of abuse, including sexual.

He becomes intimidating, restless, and agitated at the age of 3 and is often labeled as a "behavior problem."

Second Stage:

His behavior and character becomes worse and that too at a rapid rate.

He starts to exploit others to quench his needs.

When he turns five or six, he starts hitting his mother.

While studying in first grade, his behavior turns hostile towards other children.

School officials and his teachers find him difficult to handle.

He becomes socially cast-off at school by other children.

However, he is accepted by similar violent and hostile children.

He becomes disheartened in learning.

Poor care at his home continues.

His father, his step father or substitute father still absent at home.

Third Stage:

He becomes a member of a criminal mob

His bad behavior and attitude becomes well established when he is age 12.

After 3 years when he turns 15 years of age he commits his first crime.

His criminal life goes unseen by adults.

His delinquent exploits continues and drops out of school.

Many of his friends resort to drugs and alcohol.

Fourth Stage:

For self-defense he purchases his first gun.

Together with his friends he begins to use violence for taking advantage.

Some of them become more versatile than others.

Their girl friends get involved in prostitution.

Fifth Stage:

His girlfriend gets pregnant but denies or has no idea to marry her. They tend to stay together for a while till they start quarrelling like their parents did when they were children. He then abandons her will not see the new born baby.

A couple of his friends become real experts in their field of crime and violence.

He commits most of his criminal activities in his neighborhood itself.

As you can see in the above five stages which is involved in the evolution of a future criminal, the incidence of love, care, affection and dedication of his parents are missing. So, an investment of love, dedication and proper care by both parents are normally and more essentially needed to make a capable and compassionate adult out of their kids.

Academic instruction isn't the only responsibility teachers have in today's classrooms. More and more, teachers are being called on to teach students about values ... things like making good decisions, the showing of respect, taking responsibility, choosing friends, and having a positive attitude. It's a responsibility that could be overwhelming, considering the limited hours available in a school day, the number of kids in the classroom, and the diversity of backgrounds and personalities each child represents.

Character Education by Just Do The Right Thing" is a practical and powerful tool that equips educators to tackle values training with confidence.
