Enjoy Year Round Fun In Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is always a great vacation spot

. No matter what time of year you go, there is always something going on in this beautiful, beach town.

If you are planning a trip there you may want to continue reading. Most vacationers have already looked into the sites and attractions, but many may not be aware of the events and festivals that often take place.

This article will take you through the many annual events that happen in Myrtle Beach. So think about which month you will be there and learn which events take place during that month.

First off, in January there is a Children's Festival, which offers plenty of fun for kids of all ages. Also in January is the Grand Strand Boat Show. Enjoy Year Round Fun In Myrtle Beach


This show takes place at the convention center and is a great spot for boat lovers. Lastly January is also the month of the SOS Mid-Winter Fling.

Dancers from across the nation gather at the beach to shag dance (similar to swing dancing). In February visitors will be able to take part in the Myrtle Beach Marathon as well as the Mardi Gras Festival.

Events for Mardi Gras includes a parade, a food fest, and Broadway at the Beach. During the month of March you will not want to miss out on Taste of the Coast.

This is a time when many of the premier restaurants in the area provide samples, live entertainment, and kids' activities. Another great thing about this annual event is that proceeds go to charity.

If you missed the shag dancing in January, you don't have to worry because the National Shag Dance Championships take place here during the month of March. Also in March is the St. Patrick's Day celebration.

A parade on Main Street is followed by an event with food, children's activities and entertainment. And lastly, the Canadian-American days are also celebrated in March.

April brings the Taste of Broadway Spring Festival. This event has a 5k, food booths, eating competitions, a fashion show and fireworks.

Also in April is the SOS Spring Safari, where more shag dancers come to dance on the beach. If you haven't caught on yet, shag dancing is a big thing in Myrtle Beach.

Onto May we find the Little River Blue Crab Festival; this event has been taking place for almost thirty years now. It features face painting, entertainment, games, rides and more.

This month also has Mayfest and the Atlantic Beach Bikefest. June features even more fun with the Sun Fun Festival, which has been happening for nearly 60 years.

It includes a parade, air shows, beach volleyball, sand castle building, and a sailboat regatta. July has a Fourth of July celebration with a concert and fireworks.

It is also a day for the boat parade where decorated boats cruise along Murrells Inlet. Myrtle Beach also has a Fourth of July parade.

Things slow down a little in August, but you will find an arts and crafts festival which features more than 250 artists. The month of September gets cultural with an Italian Festival and a Greek Festival.

Both of these events have authentic food, entertainment and activities. Another unique event is South Carolina's Largest Garage Sale.

It takes place at the Pavilion Parking Garage and features four floors full of deals and bargains. October is the month for Oktoberfest as well as the South Carolina International Chili Cook-Off.

There is also an Arts & Fall Fest with a pumpkin carving contest and fireworks to welcome the start of fall. The month of November starts off the Christmas season with Winters Wonderland, which starts a few days before Thanksgiving and goes until Christmas. Enjoy Year Round Fun In Myrtle Beach


This wonderland is like the North Pole where children can meet Santa, eat some refreshments and more. Also in November is the Intracoastal Christmas Regatta which is a holiday boat parade.

Then in December the holiday season continues with a tree lighting ceremony, a Christmas parade, and a festival of trees. All of this eventually leads up to the New Year's Eve Extravaganza.

This event is the last event of the year and welcomes the New Year. As you can see, no matter what time of year you go, there is always something exciting taking place in Myrtle Beach!
