Causes of Early miscarriage

Usually, the cause of a miscarriage is unknown. The largest consensus is that babies who would be born with serious physical or developmental disabilities are often miscarried. Its also been shown in studies that up to one in six miscarriages occur because an egg just didnt develop correctly. There is some research that shows fever may be responsible for miscarriage based on the fact that more miscarriages are reported during flu epidemics.

Many women feel that they might have done something to prevent a miscarriage, such as eae healthier, but usually theres nothing they could have done and rarely are miscarriages directly related to a mothers actions.

Symptoms of Early miscarriage

1.A heavy feeling in the pelvis or stomach during the first three months of pregnancy.

2.Period-like cramps or tingling twitches.

3.Bleeding that occurs either when the normal menstrual cycle usually happens or at other times. Sometimes this is simply implantation bleeding, but sometimes not.

4.Bleeding that not only continues but increases in amount and frequency. If you bleed through more than one menstrual pad an hour, it means your chances of miscarriage are increased and its usually recommended that you call your care provider or simply head to the hospital.

5.Experiencing bleeding and period-like cramping that continues to worsen.

6.Early bleeding and an early ultrasound where no baby heartbeat can be detected.

7.Bleeding that consists of clots, either small or large.

8.A general overall feeling that something is not quite right with a pregnancy. Pregnant women can be very intuitive and these sort of feelings should absolutely be discussed with a care provider.

Risk Factor by Early miscarriage

1.Age: Older women are more likely to conceive babies with chromosomal abnormalities and to miscarry them as a result. In fact, 40-year-olds are about twice as likely to miscarry as 20-year-olds. Your risk of miscarriage also rises with each child you bear.

2.A history of miscarriages: Women who have had two or more miscarriages in a row are more likely than other women to miscarry again.

3.Chronic diseases or disorders: Poorly controlled diabetes and certain inherited blood clotting disorders, autoimmune disorders (such as antiphospholipid syndrome or 10011584 lupus), and hormonal disorders (such as polycystic ovary syndrome) are some of the conditions that could increase the risk of miscarriage.

4.Obesity: Some studies show a link between obesity and miscarriage.

Treatments of Early miscarriage

If your health care provider feels that you are having a spontaneous abortion or miscarriage, little can be done in the way of prevention. If you are actively miscarrying and your health care provider does not think you have a living pregnancy, you will also be seen by an obstetrician (specialist in women's reproductive health), who may recommend ending the pregnancy. A procedure called dilation and curettage (D&C) can be performed or further observation takes place to let nature take its course.

1.If you have a urinary tract infection, antibiotics that are safe to take in pregnancy will be prescribed.

2.In certain situations, you and your baby may have incompatible blood types. If your blood sample shows that you are Rh factor negative (a certain blood type), you will be given medication (RhoGAM) to prevent a possible blood type interaction with the baby (which could occur if the baby were Rh positive).

3.You will be counseled and given materials or instruction concerning the possibility of spontaneous abortion. If the mouth of your uterus is closed, if you are not bleeding heavily, your lab work is normal, and an ultrasound shows you do not have an ectopic pregnancy, you may rest at home with the following instructions:

Get plenty of rest.

Avoid douching and sexual intercourse.

Watch for the passage of any white or gray material from your vagina. This may represent what are known as the products of conception.

Return to the emergency department if bleeding or pain worsens, or if you develop fever, weakness, or dizziness.

Go to your doctor to be reexamined in about 48 hours.
