Dvd Rental For Autumn

Dvd Rental For Autumn

The nights are drawing in, the weather is slowly deteriorating - even here in the UK where

, if you were to believe certain daily newspapers, the rain barely paused for the summer in any case - and the leaves are slowly starting to brown on the trees: it must be autumn.

The major appeal for going for a DVD rental by post deal at this time of year is obvious: you're going to be spending rather less time outside on the beach or in the park and rather more staring pensively out at the rain.

Why pensively stare when you could be watching a movie from your DVD rental service? Even if you want to continue to pensively stare you can rent something melancholic.

There are other factors which make autumn a good time for DVD rental and, more particularly, for the DVD rental free trial. Dvd Rental For Autumn

This is the time of going back to school which means that not only do school children and university students need some cheering up they could also find themselves in need of documentaries or educational DVDs for their studies.

On the other side of the coin, parents whose children have gone back to school who suddenly find themselves with a lot more time on their hands might also enjoy the service.

All of which still leaves the problem of which Blockbuster DVD to get out to rent.

There are some obvious choices: 'Late Autumn' is a 1963 comedy directed by the respected auteur Yasujiro Ozu.

The Japanese film is about three middle-aged businessmen who turn matchmakers on behalf of their friend's daughter.

Another obvious choice is 'Autumn in New York' from 2000.

The film stars Will Keane as a commitment-phobic restaurant owner who starts an affair with a woman half his ago called Charlotte Fielding, played by Winona Ryder.

The stage is set for a simple romance between a younger woman and older man but it turns out to be much more complicated than the set-up makes it appear as Charlotte becomes very ill.

Charlotte's family warn Will away from her. Creepily, it turns out that they are so against the relationship not only because of the age gap but because Will used to date Charlotte's mother.

With a a less bittersweet and more out and out bitter perspective is 'Autumn' from 2009.

The post-apocalypse film joins the few survivors of a planet ravaged by a deadly virus. The survivors start to realise that the billions that have died aren't as dead as one would hope.

The undead are attracted to light and sound which isn't ideal if you want either of those things.
