Dual Income, No Kids and a Lot of Money to Spend

Financial stability is a key factor in the success of a marriage or a live-in relationship. When both couple is financially stable, it opens more opportunities for them to enjoy life comfortably without worrying about how to pay the bills. The famous actor/director Woody Allen said it aptly, "Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons."
Dual Income, No Kids and a Lot of Money to Spend

In today's world of commercialism, the demographics of couples who have dual income and no kids have continued to spark so much interest among marketers, governments and purists. The acronym DINK, for double income no kids, was coined after this sector of society. The marketers draw their interest for obvious reasons, while governments keep tab of the statistics primarily to monitor population growth or decline. Purists or conservatives on the other hand, follow the number count of DINKs in their respective areas to campaign against this position that is believed to be counterproductive and is contributing to the collapse of the moral order.

Most first world countries that happen to have the highest numbers of DINKs are pushing the red alert button for the alarming decline of their population. Governments in Europe and in highly urbanized countries in Asia are offering big tax incentives to their citizens to encourage them to have children. The fertility rate of 2 is believed to be the ideal number to replace the population in Europe. In the United States, however, there is a growing concern from those who trace their ancestry from Europe that their population is dwindling to 72% and is estimated to go down further to 50% by the year 2050 until they become a minority. To some extent, the campaign of the Purists makes a lot of sense when they point out that not having children is counterproductive, because in the long term, if we talk of economics, there is really no market to talk about to sell our goods if the population continues to decline.

In the end, the decision falls on the shoulders of the couple whether to heed to the calls of having kids or not. A comfortable life without the challenges of raising a family is an ideal arrangement for some, and that decision should be respected. While they are happy together enjoying the fruits of their hard earned money, DINKs will continue to be ideal prospects to market for investments and luxury items which the ordinary couple with kids can only dream of having.
