Don't Forget The Kids When Wedding Day Comes Round

With all the hustle and bustle of the wedding preparations, it's hard to step back and breathe, let alone develop a sense of humor about the event.

Sure, it's a joyous occasion. However, will all the details to work out and the money to spend, the planning takes on a life of its own until you are stressed to the limit. Don't let it stress you out. The whole world will not come to an end because the dresses arrived in the wrong size or the caterer won't make your requested dish.

But just when you don't think you can take it anymore, the rehearsal night comes. And then something funny happens. Your nephew, the little ring bearer, walks up to you during the rehearsal and asks, "Auntie, why did you need me to bring this pillow? You aren't going to take a nap, are you?"Don't Forget The Kids When Wedding Day Comes Round

The whole wedding party can't help but laugh. The little ring bearer, only three, has no idea what the ring bearer pillow he's holding is really for. He's just following directions.

It is true; kids can really make a stuffy and sophisticated wedding turn into a fun event. Even explaining to your nephew what his job is with the ring bearer pillow can turn into a hilarious task.

If it's one thing kids are good at, it's helping you laugh and not take yourself so seriously. Adults need to remember to laugh more, and especially during weddings. Don't stress yourself out when he takes the ring bearer pillow and throws in on the ground and lies down on it. He's only three and it's a big job for him!

Kids are a good source of laughter at the reception as well. Be sure to take a minute from drinking with the adults to dance with the youngsters, like your little ring bearer (who is still carrying around his ring bearer pillow) to show him how much you appreciate his help. Just think of the laughs you'll get when you see the little ones try to dance like adults.

So when the wedding cake is ordered, the dresses are altered, the invitations finalized, take a minute to remind yourself that life doesn't have to be so serious all the time. Take a look at the world through the eyes of a child for a few moments and remember how great it is to be alive. You are lucky, you know, with a family that loves you and a fianc who wants to spend the rest of his life with you.

So tell your little nephew that yes, maybe you will take a nap with that ring bearer pillow after the reception and smile. Enjoy your wedding and relax. Don't make it into the Bridezilla Hall of Fame.

Hey, your nephew is quite the smart little boy, isn't he?
