Different Types Of Manicure Treatments

Manicure is the cosmetic treatment of hands and nails to give them a natural and healthy look

. The term manicure is a combination of Latin word manus, meaning hand, and cura, meaning cure. It can be performed at home by self or at saloons by trained beauticians.

There are many types of manicures. Lets look at some of them:

Hot oil manicure- In this type of manicure, hot oil is applied to the cuticles to clean and soften them. It is ideal for dry skin and brittle nails. Different kinds of oils are used in this manicure, like, mineral oil, olive oil or other commercially prepared oils.

French manicure- French manicure is one of the most popular types of manicures. In it, clear light pink or beige shade nail polish is applied on the nail, with white polish on the tip. It gives a stylish, gorgeous and clean look to your hands.

Paraffin manicure- Paraffin manicure is ideal for dry or overworked hands. Paraffin or heated wax is applied on the hand which adds instant moisture to the skin and makes it supple and smooth. Some paraffin manicures also include application of oils like grape seed that has extra moisturising benefit.

Hot stone manicure- In this manicure, the basic manicure treatment is done. In addition, heated stones are placed over hands to give relief and relaxation.

European manicure- In this type of manicure, the hands are soaked in a soothing mixture of water and herbs, then the nails are shaped to perfection and finally nail polish (the colour of your choice) is applied to the nails.

Peppermint sea twist manicure- This manicure is done with oil, gel and freshly harvested peppermint. It purifies the hand and gives it a young look.

American manicure- In this type of manicure, no artificial paints, polish or chemical is used. The nails are shaped into various shapes. Sharp tools are used, so proper care should be taken by the manicurist.

Spa manicure- It is a complete hand treatment, especially provided in spas. It provides the basic nail treatment, with additional treatments like an aromatic salt rub or hydrating mask.

Gel manicure- In this type of manicure, synthetic nails are stuck to the natural nails using a gel. The gel is durable and adheres both the nails smoothly. Gel nails are of clear colour, allowing the natural colour of the nail underneath to shine through. The gel can also be applied on the natural nails to keep them healthy and lustrous.

Gel nails, unlike acrylic nails (press-on fake nails), are stronger and do not chip. Gel manicures are preferred over acrylic nails as they are odourless, healthier, more natural, and lasts longer. Plus, the gel nails look more real and are more flexible. Gels nails can be removed only by filing them off. When removed, they do not cause any damage to the real nails (as happens with acrylic nails). Depending on the length of nails and the persons lifestyle, go to the nail salon can last for a month.
