Cross Dresser's Guide To Choosing A Femme Name

Cross Dresser's Guide To Choosing A Femme Name

Although some cross dressers are happy with their male name and feel that it bears

no relevance to how they are dressed, the majority tend to choose a femme name to represent their feminine persona. Whether you do or you don't, there is no right or wrong way. It's simply a matter of personal choice.

The great thing about adopting a femme name is that you get to choose a name, rather than just accepting the one you were lumbered with at birth. This name-choosing exercise can be great fun and you can really let your imagination run wild. After all, this is about you and who you want to be.

So, how do you choose the perfect name?

Some choose unisex names such as Pat, Chris, Jamie or Kelly. Others go for the female form of their male name - for example Don becomes Donna, Paul becomes Paula and Eric becomes Erica. This is the most popular way for cross dressers and the transgendered to select a femme name, and perhaps the easiest.

You could pick a name that you simply like the sound of. Try looking through a Baby Names book and if one jumps out at you, maybe that's the one.

It may be the name of someone you respect or admire. If you have a favorite celebrity, you could take on their name. Or it could just be the name that you like and not the celebrity. It doesn't really matter as long as it feels right.

Some prefer to select a name that sounds feminine - such as Jessica, Melissa, Suzanna or Jennifer.

I've known people to take on names that have a special meaning to them. For example, if you know the name that your parents would have chosen for you if you had been a girl, you may wish to select that. Or maybe a name you had in mind for a child of your own.

If you're the adventurous sort, you could even go for a really unusual name.

The important thing to remember is that it should be a name that you're happy with. It should represent you as a person. If you can't settle on one straightaway, don't worry about it. Just take your time and it'll come.
