And one way to help create celebrity status is to be seen in the right places. To identify just what those places are you need to know your target market and this includes knowing where they hang out, the seminars and conferences they attend, the magazines (especially trade journals) they read, the forums and other Social Media sites they're members of and the associations they're members of.
Then you need to be in these places. In other words, attend the relevant seminars and conferences and don't be a shrinking violet. Interact with attendees and speakers. And you don't have to be pushy about selling your products and or services. Simply be interested in other people and see where you might be able to be help them get ahead in their business. Remember:

Submit articles for magazines in your niche. You can even offer to write a regular feature. Being published in offline magazines gives you a great deal of credibility and exposes you to a wider audience. Later on, as you build your profile you can contact trade magazines about them doing a feature article on you. And later still, as your reputation precedes you, you'll receive the ultimate accolade when magazine editors directly approach you to be featured in their publication.
You can also apply this strategy to blogs. Identify blogs in your niche and offer your services as a guest blogger. You'll need to research the style of the blog so that what you offer is in keeping with what you write. If you're not well-known then it can be helpful to post regular comments on the blogs you're interested in. This will help the owner of the blog as well as its readers to get to know you. You'll then be more likely to get a favourable response from the blog owner and also its readers should you get the opportunity to guest-blog. However, this is dependent, of course, on the types of comments you post.
Most blogs allow you to hyperlink your name to your website so, when commenting aim to add to the conversation rather than write an advert for your product or service. The same applies to forum posting. Join and participate in relevant forums. However, be mindful of the rules and regulations for each forum.
