Could Cern Prove Time Travel
I've taken a sudden interest in the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) because
it is such a new piece of technology, not to mention highly controversial. Any large-scale scientific experiment always raises questions for the general public. Is it safe? What can we learn from this? The LHC has become part of many conspiracy theories about the end of the world but for the general public, we know that the use of this machine is for the purpose of testing matter, antimatter and the particles that are created when they are fired into each other.They will study the Big Bang theory by creating a smaller version of the event. Along with the "little bangs" will come small black holes that scientists claim will evaporate within a matter of seconds. Scientists at CERN hope that the LHC will answer the questions that many people have about how the world was created. Ultimately, the goal would be to discover the very first existing particle known as the Higgs boson.
The huge black holes in space suck in matter like a huge vacuum and nothing can escape- not even light. The matter is basically ripped to shreds until there is nothing left but its fundamental particles. The space on the other side of a black hole is considered to be a fourth dimension. Our world as we know it is made of three dimensions and very little is known about this world beyond. The idea that there could be a parallel universe other than our own in another space and time makes many people question the possibilities of time travel, thus question whether or not the LHC could also lead to such a discovery.
There could be another side to black holes. Some of the matter that is sucked through a black hole is said to collect on the other side creating a new mass of matter. This mass is what is referred is the "white hole" and could be the beginning of a structure that eventually evolves into a planet of its own. It is said that our planet was once a white hole. The concept of time travel is the idea of being able to enter the fourth dimension in another time and place and exit somehow on the other side. How anything entering another dimension through a black hole could thrive without being torn to shreds is a mystery.
Scientists at CERN are also focusing on the study of space and time. Could this experiment be the beginning of understanding how the world began and eventually prove that there is another world out there that we don't know about? Could we eventually learn that aliens exist? I'm sure if any major breakthroughs like these were to be discovered, it would not happen for years to come after many experiments have been conducted and tested over and over again. Studies like this scare people and bring about controversy when they interfere with religious beliefs. There are many people who are completely opposed to CERN's entire project and some religious websites claim that our curiosity could kill us in the end.
The LHC is so fascinating in that we know it's a huge 17-mile underground operation that has the ability to produce a smaller version of the Big Bang. We know that it breaks down quite often and we've heard that computers at CERN are reported to shut down for no apparent reason. This makes me curious as to whether or not scientists are fully prepared for this experiment. The good news is that scientists do not plan to launch the study until 2012. Waitdid someone say 2012?
