Conventional Boats Versus Inflatable Boats

Conventional Boats Versus Inflatable Boats

In the world of water recreation, there comes a time to make some comparisons and decide between a standard boat and an inflatable boat

. While standard boats are more well known and usually what first comes to mind when people think of the word boat, inflatable boats are growing more and more popular with each passing year. However, there are many people who do not know which is the better choice. It is true that there is no one definitive right choice for any one person. However, each type of boat possesses qualities that may make it more valuable to a consumer over the time. There are several main points that will be addressed pertaining to the main differences between standard boats and inflatable boats.

When comparing boats of similar size and function, inflatable boats are able to boast about their superiority is many areas. For example, it has been seen that inflatable boats are more buoyant, stable, and safe than their traditional counterparts. This is due to the inflatable chambers that keep the vessel afloat. They distribute the weight in the boat more evenly and therefore increase its stability. These chambers also make it incredibly difficult for an inflatable boat to sink. Traditional boats cannot always claim that. Also, due to how weight distributed in the boat, the passenger capacity is also increased. However, while it can hold more weight than a traditional boat of similar size, an inflatable boat itself weighs far less than its traditional counterpart.

This feature makes it much easier for the owner to transport and store the boat. Those who own traditional boats can be heard complaining about how difficult it is to get from one place to another and how to store it. Those with normal boats usually have to either possess adequate space themselves to keep their boat, or they have to rent a space at a storage unit or marina in order to keep their boat secure. Those with an inflatable boat have it much easier. They can simply be deflated. Even inflatable boats with rigid hulls, are easy to transport, as the rigid hull can be disassembled, and easily packed away. Furthermore, inflatable boats are easier to transport since they can be hauled in a car trunk without any special equipment such as mountings. One feature that the traditional boat does win out on, however, is that of the boat lifetime. They tend to outlast inflatable boats, but even then, inflatable can last over a decade.

As mentioned before, while certain types of boats have an edge over other types, the choice is ultimately up to the consumer to make.
