But to address those problems, Australian government and universities are making righteous steps to extensively lessen the setbacks being faced by the student visitors.Loneliness is the top problem faced by foreign students. This is a serious matter because in some cases, the student tend to have trauma or get so depressed. Even worse is, they commit suicide or opt to halt school. Usually, students who suffer from this are from 15 to 21. At a very young age, they are already left alone, thinking they can already go on all by themselves. Although it is a fact that Australians are friendly and jolly, some just can't bear it being away from family. And so, the government and other education institutions are providing adequate resources such as counselling services, English classes, social clubs and buddy systems. In some instances, a student is compelled to join at least a university group to enhance his/her communication skills and forget everything that he/she is longing for. The authorities are making way to establish and facilitate relationships between domestic and international students in Australia.
Another problem is in communication. This is very common to students from non-English speaking countries. Some foreign students find it hard to understand and speak English. Another thing is that, the Australian slang is very unique (and fun) and somehow very hard to keep up. This is a complaint by students from English speaking countries like UK and US. This problem doesn't make a big impact. International students learn the language easily since it is what they meet everyday. Also, domestic students are doing the right things to help them out. Living everyday with the English language on the background is the best way to learn.
Accommodation is a problem occurred due to the financial crisis. Prices used to be very low, but prior to the housing shortage in 2008, large increase on properties took place. As the number of student immigrants increases, the accommodation decreases. The government prioritized this one by allotting additional budget on on-campus housing projects. Universities are now expected to build additional boarding houses especially made for their own students. For students wanting to come and study in Australia, contact first your university with regards to your stay. Schedule and reserve a hub before you travel so you won't need to go and search somewhere you can stay throughout the whole school year.
