Basically, there is no real recovery time, and you are able to resume your normal activities immediately following the treatment. There might be a little bruising, swelling, and/or redness, but this dissipates rapidly.
The risks of collagen injections are: scarring, lumpiness, infection, sores, peeling of the skin, abscess, and misshapen or irregular contouring. These risks are rare and considered minimal.
Collagen treatments normally last anywhere from several weeks to six months or more. A rule of thumb is that the animal based collagen injections dont have the same duration as human based collagen. However, the down side to this is that the human based collagen treatments are almost always more expensive.
You are a good candidate for collagen injections of you are in reasonably good health, have reasonable expectations of the treatment, do not have an autoimmune disease, are not pregnant, or are not allergic to any of the components of collagen.
Your plastic surgeon will pre-test for allergies, especially if you are planning to receive bovine collagen injections. Collagen injections are not usually the treatment of choice for deep wrinkles and folds.
