This is an imposing structure which was built in 1568 when the Jews settled in Mattancherry and considered as the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth nations. This synagogue located in the Old Cochin which is also known as Jew Town. It is a monumental building which was located close to the Mattancherry Palace temple. The complex has four buildings and known for a clock tower, floor with hand painted willow pattern tiles brought from China, the Scrolls of the Law, several gold crowns received as gifts, Belgian glass chandeliers and a brass-railed pulpit.
Chinese Fishing Net:
This has become a very popular tourist attraction because of their size and elegant construction which is photogenic and the slow rhythm of their operation is quite hypnotic. This fishing net was introduced by the Chinese explorer Zheng He in the year 1350. The beautifully Kochi beaches are lined up with the Chinese Fishing Nets which provides delightful sight to tourists during their Cochin Tour. Hill Palace Museum:
This is Kerala's first heritage museum which was set up in the year 1865 and became the popular tourist attraction of Kochi. It is beautiful museum situated on a hillock and is surrounded by 50 acres of manicured lawns with fountains and ponds. The whole complex consists of around 49 buildings built in the traditional architectural style of Kerala. This museum has 14 galleries which displays some beautiful and rare artifacts that belong to the former rulers of Kerala. The artifacts which are displayed in the museum include weapons, beautiful statues, murals, royal ornaments, paintings, arts, and ancient carriages.
