As time goes by any industrial process can be improved and the field of sheet metal fabrication has seen many overhauls, ideas, and renovations

. There are various pioneers in this field but one of the most prominent is a man named John T. Parsons. He had the idea and intent of developing cnc machine tools that would revolutionize the way the industry worked. It would not only make things easier but cut costs across the board.

Despite a lack of funding and no official backing to bring his idea into reality Parsons nonetheless filed a patent to develop his sheet metal fabrication tool. His idea was to develop a line of cnc machine tools that would be fully automated and reduce the manpower and resources needed in certain stages of the industry. Unfortunately MIT was also interested in developing a similar idea and his progress was cut short. Despite this setback the idea would still see the light of day.

In the mid 1900's a small group of people from MIT reexamined his idea and decided to follow it through to completion. In late 1952 they developed and patented a Numerical Control Servo system for use in the industry. Despite being based off many of the same principles as Parson's original design it differed in practical physical assembly. Instead of using punch cards to control the system this model used three different tracks to deliver instructions to the machine. They added four additional tracks to take care of the control information and before long the idea proved its worth. After seeing the success of the machine major brands such as General Electric, Bendix, and IBM applied for sub licenses in order to develop their own models of the systems.

The results of these early endeavors into automated cnc machine tools had overwhelming long term repercussions. Not only has efficiency, productivity, and quality gone up but prices for nearly every part of the process have been slashed due to these devices. Sheet metal fabrication alone has seen a tremendous decline in the need of manpower to operate facilities. Add to the fact that these machines can make any shape or form repeatedly without incident or errors and the industry is moving forward very quickly.Cnc Machining In South Africa

South Africa has been producing iron and steel since 1934 and began producing parts for vehicle assembly in 1960. Over 91,000 autoworkers in South Africa built over 225,000 passenger cars and 97,000 commercial vehicles in 1994. What better fit than becoming a leader in the area of sheet metal fabrication CNC machinery?

In this industry there are various tools that use systems much similar to current CNC machine tools. The tools that are essential to this industry include wood routers, turret punches, drills, and many other important tools. Currently new tools are made as needed and South Africa also produces many top CNC interpreters for various industrial fields. Sheet metal fabrication alone has seen many boosts to both efficiency and productivity.

South Africa in addition to having the best cnc machine tools and sheet metal fabrication capabilities also has the best heavy industrial equipment ever seen. This is the result of the heavy mining and metal construction industries in the country which makes up one fourth of their manufacturing capabilities. In order to stay ahead of the rest of the world they have begun upgrading the components, systems, subsystems, and operating systems of their various CNC systems. They currently have a very large lead on everyone else and show no signs of slowing down.
